Patient Accounts Representative II             

The position requires a fundamental knowledge of filing insurance claims on 1500 claim forms. Knowledge includes how insurance companies pay according to contracts established with the practice, how to read and interpret an insurance explanation of benefits (EOB) and ensure precise follow-up with the insurance company via, phone, email, insurance web sites, etc. to resolve insurance processing issues and denials. This work must be completed at an acceptable volume per day and in accordance with the Practice’s core values of Excellence, Innovation, Collaboration, Advancement, Stewardship, and Patient Centered Care.


Education and/or Experience:  

  • High School diploma or GED required                                       
  • Associate degree in accounting or health care related field with two years of insurance experience preferred
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of patient billing, claims submission, and payer-specific requirements is a must
  • Understanding of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 and 837 technologies
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Word and Excel required with a demonstrated proficiency in Excel to develop pivot tables, apply and use simple formulas, develop charts and graphs
  • Experience in maintaining confidentiality in dealing with sensitive issues
  • Proven ability to make sound and accurate judgements in problem solving work issues
  • Successful record of follow through on commitments and demonstrated dependability
  • Knowledge of SRS medical management system preferred

  • Patient Services – Front office responsibilities, including welcoming patients and visitors to the practice, checking patients in and out, and performing registration duties.
  • Provider Services – Scheduling patients for various tests and surgeries as well as maintaining provider office and surgery schedules.
  • Medical Records – Maintains patient files and records and transcribes provider medical notes.
  • Business Operations – Provides billing and reimbursement services, accounting functions, authorizations for medical services, medical coding, scheduling appointments, and computer support functions.
  • Radiology – Conducts patient X-Rays, bone density procedures, and MRIs.
  • Clinic Services – Serves as clinical support for physicians and physician assistants.
  • Physical Therapy – Rehabilitation services for Orthopaedics East & Sports Medicine Center patients.
  • Administration – Provides administrative support for operational departments, including human resources, payroll, and overall management of the practice.

Physician Assistant Recruiting

Physician Assistants at Orthopaedics East & Sports Medicine Center care for our patients in both the clinical office setting as well as the operating room. Qualifications are board certification and licensure or the ability to obtain licensure in North Carolina. Prior work experience in orthopaedics is preferred.
